(KNSI) — Veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, or other toxic substances can attend a PACT Act Claims Clinic at the Stearns County Service Center in Waite Park next week.
The event is coming up on Friday, September 22nd, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Veterans Benefits Administration representatives will be available to support veterans and guide claims.
Veterans can also enroll for VA benefits, get a toxic exposure screening, ask about existing claims, or start a new claim. Appointments are available, but they are limited. Walk-ins will also be welcome. Those wanting to make an appointment can call 320-255-6340.
Those who come to the clinic need to bring a copy of their DD-214 or discharge papers and recent correspondence about any claims.
There is an upcoming enrollment deadline of September 30th.
While a prior clinic was hosted at the VA Medical Center, this is the first local claims clinic hosted by a County Veterans Service Officer. Furthermore, VBA has been diligently conducting online claims clinics since the inception of the PACT Act last year.
According to a press release from Stearns County, “For veterans who have questions or are seeking assistance related to their exposure to toxic substances, this PACT Act Claims Clinic is a valuable resource that should not be missed.”
