(KNSI) — A local bank and a St. Cloud radio station are teaming up for the second year to help keep families warm as temperatures drop.

Stearns Bank and KNSI sister station 99.9 LITE FM are again sponsoring the Coats for Kids Drive. LITE FM’s Amos in the Morning told KNSI News they need to make this year’s event bigger because the need is growing. “Here’s some words that I got from District 742. They say, we now have more than 800 families whose members are enrolled in transitional services, such as doubling up in shelters, motels, staying with extended family members, things like that. And they’re anticipating more requests for clothing this year.”

Gently used or new winter gear in all sizes for kids and adults is needed. That includes boots, coats, gloves, hats, mittens and snow pants.

Last year, generous people donated hundreds of items of clothing. Amos says anyone can help. “This is something that we can do pretty easily because a lot of us have this clothing lying around the house that we grew out of, we can’t use anymore. So, all we have to do is get it to the right people.”

Items can be dropped off at the LITE FM studio inside the Radio City Music Mall on West St. Germain Street downtown St. Cloud or the Stearns Bank on 2nd Street South during normal business hours.

Amos says if you can’t make it to one of the drop-off locations, he would be happy to come to your business or house and pick up some items. Just call or text the studio at 320-259-5483.

The deadline to donate is October 20th. The St. Cloud Area School District will hand out the clothing.
