(KNSI) – St. Cloud will honor the victims of the 9/11 terror attacks on Monday evening.

The Day of Remembrance will be held on September 11th at 5:00 p.m. in front of city hall. Mayor Dave Kleis invites everyone to come out and pay tribute to the almost 3,000 victims.

That day marks 22 years since the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. One hijacked airliner crashed in a Pennsylvania farm field after passengers fought back.

Flags are also flying at half-staff on Monday.

A piece of the actual tower is encased in a monument on display in Rockville. The 1,000 LBS tower piece was placed into the monument and dedicated in September 2016. The artifact is part of the city’s veterans monument.
