(KNSI) – Take off and immerse yourself in the blockbuster hit Top Gun: Maverick during St. Cloud’s annual movie under the stars.

The film will be on the inflatable big screen on Saturday, September 9th, at dusk, which will be around 7:00 p.m. at Whitney Park.

Park and Recreation Programmer Cassie Woischke told KNSI News in the past, the city focused on cartoons targeting kids, but this year they took a different approach. “We are aiming to appeal to all ages. This time more of the whole family versus just the small kids by showing Top Gun: Maverick.”

She says they’ve been planning to show it since February, but they wanted to wait because it doesn’t get dark until after 9:00 in the summer. “We kind of figured timing-wise, the weekend after Labor Day, everyone’s coming back into town, whether they’re from St. Cloud State or kids going back to school. We feel like people are staying in town, and we really want to bring the community together for some free fun. You really can’t go wrong with a fun night out in the park. And it doesn’t cost you anything.”

Moviegoers are asked to bring a blanket or a lawn chair. There will also be inflatables, bouncy houses, yard games, and concessions.
