(KNSI) – Two St. Cloud road closures will have drivers adjusting beginning next weekend.
The St. Mary’s Cathedral Block Party is back on Saturday, September 9th. First Street South will be shut down between 8th and 10th Avenues. The block party will begin with a 4:00 mass in the cathedral. At 5:00, beer, burgers, and wine will be served, plus bingo, a 50/50 raffle, inflatables, kids’ games, and a silent auction. Dueling pianos will provide music at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free, and the event is always well-attended.
Utility work will close 5th Avenue South for a block in one direction beginning Monday, September 11th. The north lane will be shut down from Highway 23 to 3rd Street South. Traffic in the opposite direction will still be allowed.
The busy downtown stretch is the connector to the St. Cloud State University campus. The new Highbanks Plaza is located on one side, and a busy commercial district, anchored by Chipotle Mexican Grill, Noodles and Company, and Chase Bank, is on the other. The work should wrap up on Saturday, September 16th.
