(KNSI) – The Cold Spring City Council has canceled its special Wednesday meeting to discuss the new fire station.
City officials say the change is due to a last minute illness.
The meeting was scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at the Cold Spring Municipal Center. It will be set up for a later date.
The group approved a land purchase on Main Street earlier this year for the potential facility and was to hear from architects to discuss cost estimates. Administrator Kris Dockendorf says the Building Committee has met with the architects on multiple occasions to go over what capabilities will be needed.
“So, our architects have taken that information, and they’re going to put together a very rough estimate. But then they want to sit down with the council and talk about should we continue going forward. Is this a number that they are comfortable with?”
If needed, the two sides will discuss alternatives to the current plan. Dockendorf expects the group to talk about how to finance the new fire hall as well.
“There’s just a couple of options, in terms of USDA programs, grant funding, bonding. We’ll be looking at talking about the different possibilities.”
