(KNSI) — A 34-year-old man died, and a 38-year-old woman was seriously injured in a crash on Highway 10 in Clear Lake Township early Saturday morning.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the call came in just before 1:15. According to the preliminary crash report, the 23-year-old driver of an Infiniti sedan was traveling west on 10 at a high rate of speed and rear ended a Chevy Cobalt driven by a 34-year-old woman from Lake Lilian. The Cobalt lurched into the north ditch and rolled several times. The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries, but her passenger, Jordan Kramer of Clarissa, died. Crash investigators say he was not wearing his seatbelt. Another passenger, Candice Pooler, also of Clarissa, suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to CentraCare – St. Cloud Hospital for treatment.

The report says the Infinity continued on 10 for a short distance after the initial crash before going off the road and plowing into a tree line. The driver and passenger both suffered non-life-threatening injuries. It’s unclear if the driver had been drinking before the crash, which remains under investigation.
