(KNSI) — A short but heavily used stretch of road in St. Cloud will be shut down starting Monday, August 21st, for some much needed repairs.
The roughly one block stretch of 22nd Street South connecting County Road 75/Roosevelt Road to Clearwater Road will be blocked off for resurfacing.
The road was crumbling this past spring, and ruts had developed. City workers put in temporary fixes and sealed up the potholes, but the improvements set to start Monday will be more permanent.
While it’s not an entire reclamation project, it will be a mill and overlay. That means the road surface will be taken down a few inches and repaved.
The city has an ambitious bituminous street resurfacing agenda this year to get 16 miles of roads around town fixed up. While 22nd Street South was not part of the initial plan, it was added later thanks to some leftover funds.
Weather permitting, the work should be done by Wednesday, August 26th.
