(KNSI) – The Initiative Foundation continues to make progress in administrating the Main Street Revitalization Program grants in central Minnesota.

The organization received $4.5 million from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development to help boost downtowns regionally following the COVID-19 pandemic. The awards can fund up to 30 percent of each project.

There are still 25 that have been approved by the foundation but have not provided the final paperwork to receive their grant. The process needs to be completed by November. Each recommendation comes from a local organization like the St. Cloud Economic Development Authority, which the Initiative Foundation then reviews.

Some recent grants include Discrete Designs of Cold Spring. It will receive over $2,000 for basement repairs. The total cost is estimated at $6,900. Mack Stewart is renovating 101 East Broadway in Little Falls. The work is expected to cost over $820,000. The grant is for about $100,000. The final award is to help Tequilatown Cuisine and Club on 5th Avenue in St. Cloud. The club and restaurant is looking to update the D.B. Searles Building.
