(KNSI) — The St. Cloud area has gotten some much needed rainfall over the past 12 hours.

The National Weather Service says from 7:00 p.m. Sunday night through 7:00 a.m. Monday, the official rainfall total is 1.97″. The rainfall is welcome news for parched areas of the state that are in severe to exceptional drought. St. Cloud is asking residents to conserve water for the time being. Waite Park has issued an all out watering ban due to dry conditions.

Another half an inch of rain is forecast to fall through the afternoon Monday as it ends from west to east. Then it’s all aboard the high temperature rollercoaster.

Forecasters say Monday will be in the mid 70s for the high, low 80s are expected Tuesday and then windy with highs in the upper 80s Wednesday, but strong to severe thunderstorms will cool things off Wednesday night and upper 70s return Thursday. The 90s will make a comeback for the weekend.
