(KNSI) — Volunteers are needed to help at dozens of community sites during the United Way of Central Minnesota’s Days of Caring next month.
Officials say they’ll need more than 700 people to help at 80 locations from September 18th to the 22nd. Volunteer Engagement Director Mary Krippner told KNSI News anyone can pitch in. “Everybody’s eligible to help. We even have a few projects that are family-friendly. Some are only for adults because they might be construction. And so when you registered, all that information is in the listing.”
She says as much as the volunteers put into it, they’ll get a lot of it, too. “It’s an opportunity to make new connections. You meet new people. It’s an opportunity for groups to come together and get to know each other. A lot of companies are bringing teams together to volunteer and it’s a great way to to work with one another. It’s also a great opportunity to learn about our community and what our community has to offer.”
All volunteers will get a t-shirt and a Coborn’s lunch coupon.
The deadline to sign up as a volunteer is September 8th.
Volunteers used to all head out for one day of caring, but the event has been so popular it is being turned into a week-long campaign after it was restarted following the pandemic.
