(KNSI) – Cold Spring City Council limited the use of cannabis, edibles, and hemp at Tuesday’s meeting. City Administrator Kris Dockendorf says the prohibition is on using the products in public spaces. She lists places where the ban will go into effect.
Dockendorf says it applies to “Any property generally open to or accessible by the public, or property owned, managed, or controlled by the city, including but not limited to all public streets, public parks, highways, alleys, public sidewalks, public parking lots, or private parking lots that are open for use by the general public.”
The city will not write its own rules covering low-potency CBD products. Dockendorf says, “They discussed whether or not to license and regulate those sales and, after discussion, decided not to. The state has until 3/1 of 2025 to do it. You know, in a little over a year, they’ll be doing it anyway. So, we’re just gonna wait and let them do it.”
The Office of Cannabis Management is a new department created by the state legislature for oversight. It is still filling open positions and is not expected to be fully operational until 2025.
