(KNSI) – The owner of a popular St. Cloud area garden and nursery has passed away.

Tom Woods of Woods’ Farmer Seed and Nursery passed away Monday, July 31st, after complications from heart surgery. He was 67.

Woods grew up in the St. Cloud area and graduated from Apollo High School in 1974. He got married to his wife Ellen in 1976. Tom began working at Lunds’ Farmer Seed and Nursery watering plants part-time. It turned into a 50-year career, working his way up to store manager.

On December 29th, 2006, Tom and his wife bought the store and changed its name to Woods’ Farmer Seed and Nursery. In 2015, they moved the business to a significantly larger space in Waite Park, where it stands today.

The visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. His funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph.
