(KNSI) – The harshest criminal punishment in Minnesota was handed down on Monday related to a 2021 killing in St. Cloud.
Life in prison without parole is the fate for Deantae Demond Davis. He was found guilty of first-degree premeditated murder in April for the death of Keisa Lange.
Police believe Lange was killed for being a suspected federal informant. Lange was driven to a dirt road off Cooper Avenue in south St. Cloud where she was shot in the head and her body was dumped.
The defendants returned to their apartment and are believed to have used bleach to try to clean the back seat of the vehicle they were in. Forensic scientists were still able to find evidence of blood after the Ford Fusion was impounded.
They also burned their clothes. Four people were indicted in the case. Kenneth Jamal Carter was acquitted in March on charges of aiding and abetting first and second-degree murder.
Angela Renee Jones pled guilty last month to aiding an offender in the act of violence and will be sentenced in August. She is facing about 12 years in prison. Alicia Lewis pled guilty in 2021 and agreed to testify against the other three in court.
