(KNSI) – An ATV crash Friday afternoon just before 5:30 in Crow River Township seriously hurts one person.

The 35-year-old was a passenger in the side-by-side when she noticed that her seat belt was possibly stuck in the door. The vehicle was heading north on County Road 13 at 50 miles per hour when she opened the door to try and free the restraint.

According to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, the wind caught the door and threw it open. The woman lost her balance and fell out of the ATV while it was still moving.

She was taken to Paynesville Hospital and then had to be transferred by Life Link Helicopter to another facility. The driver was uninjured.

Belgrade Fire Department and Brooten Ambulance also assisted at the scene.
