(KNSI) – Another construction closure will go into effect next week on St. Cloud’s east side.
Beginning on Monday, August 7th, the intersection of Highway 23 and Division Street East will be closed. Access to homes, apartments, and stores will be maintained, but traffic will be diverted to alternate entrances. The work will affect the area north of the crossing. East St. Germain is also closed at Highway 10. Both are expected to last until September.
The owner of the Copper Kitchen restaurant says business is down about 25% compared to what would be expected this time of year. She told KNSI News last week that she worried some servers would leave for other work because of how much they rely on tips as part of their income.
Ward Two Councilor Karen Larson says, “If you can take a few minutes, and be brave, and get through the detours, if you would please come to the east side for your coffee, your breakfast, your lunch, your dinner, your groceries, your hardware, and help support these businesses through this tough time. We would really appreciate it.”
