(KNSI) — Wednesday’s Summertime by George! concert celebrates singer-songwriter night.

Opening act Going to the Sun and headliner John King are featured tonight.

King is a newcomer to Summertime By George. He grew up in Georgia but has since moved to Nashville. He won an award for penning Randy Houser’s “We Went.” King is also credited for a 2016 Hootie and the Blowfish tune, “Rollin.”

Going To The Sun is based out of Minneapolis but was formed in small-town Montana. Their website describes the group’s sound as sometimes acoustic, sometimes electric pop that melds together Willie Nelson and the “Pet Sounds”-era Beach Boys.

While bopping along to the tunes, don’t forget to help the Catholic Charities Emergency Services Food Shelf. Staff will be manning a booth at the Middle Town Market in Eastman Park from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.

The food and fund drive accepts nonperishable food items or a monetary donation. All proceeds raised will be counted towards the Open Your Heart Summer Challenge. The grant will award up to $4,000 to Catholic Charities depending on the amount taken in throughout July.

You can also make a donation online by clicking this link.

Officials with the St. Cloud Rotary say the concert is on, despite forecasts for the hottest day of the year. They are encouraging attendees to hydrate as much as possible and to wear sunscreen and other protection from the sun and heat.

This week’s concert is the sixth of eight planned for the season. The Fabulous Armadillos headline August 9th, and things wrap up with Power Night on the 16th
