(KNSI) — St. Cloud Area School District 742 and the Minnesota School Employees Association have reached tentative two-year agreements with its paraeducators and licensed practical nurses.

The district and AFSCME Council have also reached a tentative two-year agreement with the sign language interpreters.

The groups represent 330 paras, 17 nurses and eight interpreters.

Paras will get a 6% increase in the first year and a 3.5% increase in year two. The LPNs will receive a 5% increase and a 2.5% increase. Interpreters have been offered a 5% raise for nationally certified employees and a 3% raise for Minnesota-certified interpreters each year of the contract.

The tentative agreements also include increasing the district’s contribution for single health insurance and longevity pay for employees with three or more years.

The deals are subject to ratification by union members and approval by the school board.

LPNs and interpreters are voting on their tentative agreement this week, with board approval expected on August 2nd. Paraprofessional staff will vote on their agreement on August 7th. If approved, the district will vote on August 16th.

School officials say an increase in state funding helped cover the increases.
