(KNSI) – The head of the Stearns History Museum is stepping down.
Executive Director Carie Essig is leaving to take a job with Stride Academy this fall. Her last day at the museum will be July 28th.
Essig has led the museum for five years through a successful national accreditation process, facilitated a new strategic plan, engaged community members from around the county, and supported the digital transformation of access to the facilities archives and collections.
The museum is holding a get-together for Essig to say thank you for her years of service. Coffee with Carie is on Wednesday, July 26th, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the museum.
Stearns History Museum Development Director Amy Degerstrom will serve as the interim executive director while the board searches for a new head. Degerstrom has over 20 years of experience and came to the museum in 2019. Before that, she was the executive director at the Becker County Museum in Detroit Lakes.
