(KNSI) — The St. Cloud Fire Department is asking the public to be careful and take extra precautions with their recreational fires.
Due to the extremely dry conditions, the fire department says to make sure there is a garden hose nearby and that a responsible adult closely monitors the fire. When the activities are done for the night, they say to drown the fire with water and make sure it’s completely out before walking away.
Currently, there are no restrictions on recreational fires within the city, but people are asked to keep an eye on the city’s website for more details, as that could change.
The latest U.S. Drought Monitor says all of Benton, Sherburne and about 40% of the eastern portion of Stearns County are all in a D2 or severe drought.
