(KNSI) – Eden Valley-Watkins athletes often soar to the top of the standings and the hope is to one day have their facilities match the teams’ results.
The second annual Glory Days Festival will take place on August 19th at Cozy Corners Campground in Richmond, raising money for a new sports complex. Organizer Christy Kipf says EVW is one of only three schools in the state that does not own its football stadium.
“If you’ve ever been to the Eden Valley football field, it’s wavy. It’s actually a city-owned place but it’s actually a baseball field that they convert into a football field in the fall,” she notes.
Kipf says last year they raised $84,000 and hope for more the second time around. She estimates it would take millions for a proper facility.
Roughly half of the money raised comes from before the first family-friendly activity takes place. Kipf talks about the opportunities to help out now.
“We have our different levels, the White [$250-$999], Silver [$1,000-$1,999], Navy [$2,000-$2,999], and Eagle level [$3,000+]. So people are more than welcome to do a sponsorship level. We are also looking for silent and live auction items, they’ve been coming in slower this year but we’re getting there,” Kipf says
The food court opens at 11:00 a.m. There are plenty of family activities throughout the day, plus bounce houses until 4:00 p.m. The live auction runs 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. In the afternoon, bingo and a bean bag tournament are set from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Axe throwing and live music entertain at night.
Admission is free. A link to donate is here. Kipf says everyone is welcome to attend in person, whether they have a connection to the school district or not.
