(KNSI) – A detour is planned for Highway 10 in east St. Cloud for one night only.
Crews will be pouring concrete for the foundation of the new Highway 23 West bridge that spans the road. The interchange has been under construction since May as part of a two-year overhaul. Bridge beams were set on June 20th which also led to a temporary overnight closure.
Highway 23 is already restricted to one-lane traffic in each direction on the east bridge. That will continue even as Highway 10 is closed. The work is expected to last from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Tuesday.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation says the life of the interchange is anticipated to be at least 60 years. The agency says the new design will improve motorist and pedestrian safety.
The project should wrap up in November 2024.
