(KNSI) – Kids can earn a Junior Ranger patch by completing tasks in a new activity book available for the first time Friday.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources recently launched the program. Kids can begin the adventure by picking up a free Junior Ranger booklet during regular office hours at state parks. Naturalists created the booklet activities to encourage learning and exploration for ages 6-10 or anyone young at heart.
The program lets kids learn different ways plants and animals adapt to their environment like superpowers through a mix of on-the-page and on-the-trail activities. Kids can discover state park habitats, move like animals, focus on their senses, learn how to protect wildlife, avoid poison ivy, outsmart ticks and more.
When kids finish the activities, they earn a free Junior Ranger patch, which they can obtain at a state park ranger station or visitor center.
