(KNSI) — Benton County State Aid Highway 4 will be getting a major facelift next week, weather permitting.
Officials say the road surface will get a full reclamation on July 20th, which means it will be down to gravel for some time. Then, starting July 21st, the road will be completely closed from one mile east of Mayhew Lake Road to 3/4 of a mile west of Popple Creek. That allows for excavation and soil settlement so the bridge over the Elk River can be fixed. The road will be closed for the entire weekend and could reopen as soon as Monday, July 24th. Those who live along the road will have access to their homes.
A detour will be in place to direct traffic over to State Aid Highway 15 or 45th Street to Golden Spike Road.
Though the road will be reopened, drivers are strongly encouraged to use the detour route until Highway 4 is paved.
Anyone with questions should ask the Public Works/Highway Department at 320-968-5051.
