(KNSI) – Bernick’s held a groundbreaking Tuesday morning for a new 36,000-square-foot warehouse at its corporate campus in Waite Park.
Chief Executive Officer Jason Hinnenkamp says it will complement the existing facility. “Supplementation for what we currently have inside for our full-line vending team, it’s to give them their own building, own facility to operate out of. We’re also building for long-term growth for storage for other products for the main floor beverage and for beer.”
Hinnenkamp says there will be space to park vehicles inside during the wintertime, which should help reduce maintenance costs. It is expected to be ready by December or January for move-in.
Vice President of Vending Ryan Dale says customers have become less brand loyal in recent years and are willing to try new things. The warehouse will help Bernick’s with the growing need to be flexible.
He says, “Currently, the portion of the warehouse where vending is, they have about 500 pallet slots, places to put product. This one’s gonna have closer to 1,400. So, almost triple in size of storage space in this new facility.”
The extra room will allow the company to carry more products, and improve its backlog of specialty items, making them available on a more consistent basis. Dale says there is still room for more buildings if needed at the site located at Sundial Drive and 10th Avenue South.
