(KNSI) – The Paramount Theatre is ending the summer season with a scorching lineup.

The entertainment venue recently released its August schedule, and it kicks off August 1st with the first collaboration of the Meire Grove Community Band and New Ulm Municipal Bands. The groups have a rich history as brass bands that were popular in Europe, particularly Germany. The Meire Grove Community Band was established in 1883, and inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame in 2017. They have taken two performance tours to Germany. The cost is $7.

On Thursday, August 3rd, get ready to rock and roll as The Wirth Center presents the 18th annual School of Rock camp and concert. Students in 6th to 12th grade combine their talents in a two-week camp while being mentored by local musicians. The teens then showcase their talent in a concert featuring a variety of hits from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s. Tickets are $15.

The Paramount summer movie series features the 1971 cult classic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. On August 15th, $5 takes you on the magical expedition with the legendary candy man in a splendiferous movie based on Roald Dahl’s classic book.

The month ends with a bang with the sounds of Neil Diamond performed by The Killer Vees. Local music stars Matt, Jeff and Tommy Vee are the sons of the legendary Bobby Vee. They join forces to celebrate the music from a timeless catalog for two shows on Friday, August 25th. Tickets are $26-$29.
