(KNSI) – A serious fire broke out on the roof of the River’s Edge Convention Center early Tuesday.
Four St. Cloud Fire Department engines and a tower truck responded at 5:07 a.m. on Independence Day and were quickly able to get the flames under control. Several layers of the ceiling were charred, but it did not spread to the larger 150,000-square-foot building. Battalion Chief Brett Young estimates the damage at $200,000, according to a critical incident report.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Also responding to the scene were St. Cloud Police Department personnel and Mayo Ambulance.
