(KNSI) – The detour between Foley and Milaca is being removed just in time for the Fourth of July holiday.
Drivers can use Highway 23 to get between the cities starting Friday afternoon. The Minnesota Department of Transportation says travelers will enjoy a new smoother surface, a safer road and improved drainage. The project includes overhead lighting, a multi-use trail and a roundabout at 8th Avenue and Penn Street in Foley.
After the holiday, crews will finish the project. Drivers can plan for periodic lane closures as crews lay road markings, pave the multi-use trail, replace a box culvert in Foley and plant grass.
The $18.2 million project began in May 2022 and is expected to be completed on July 31st.
