(KNSI) – Manea’s Meats in Sauk Rapids held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new expansion at its downtown facility on Tuesday, as it prepares to add 12,000 square feet to its headquarters.

Marketing and Sales Lead Sofia Radzak says the extra space will come in handy. “That is going to allow for more production space. We have a growing office team, which is exciting, so that’s something that will be added and, of course, additional storage. We are kind of bursting at the seams here,” she says.

Manea’s remains a family-owned business but it is seeing significant growth via wholesalers who are putting a variety of the brand’s beef, pork, and chicken products in grocery stores and other retailers. The company is becoming a regional business as it boosts its footprint beyond Sauk Rapids. The new wing will help Manea’s continue to boom.

The expansion is good for the local economy. Radzak says the new space means more hiring. “Before COVID time, we had about, I want to say, 55 to 60 employees. We are now at 82 and that’s going to hopefully, with this expansion, bring on about another 15 to 20 new employees,” Radzak predicts.

For customers of Pio’s Sangwich Shop or the retail outlet, you won’t notice much difference. Radzak says the El Cubano sandwich and the Philly cheesesteak bratwurst are two can’t-miss items if you are stopping by for the first time.
