St. Cloud Approves Campus-Wide Alcohol Sales

(KNSI) – Beer and wine will be for sale campuswide at St. Cloud State University’s campus.

The city council unanimously approved a request to allow the sale of beer and wine at fundraisers and other special occasions. Currently, SCSU can only sell alcohol on the campus south of University Drive at sports arenas like the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center, Huskey Stadium and Halenbeck Hall. No one spoke against the proposal during Monday night’s public hearing.

Holding events like the Lemonade Art Fair or the annual SCSU Foundation Gala requires the university to get a special permit for each event through the city. School officials say allowing campuswide sales will make it easier to plan events.

School officials say they won’t allow alcohol to be served at student events or functions.
