(KNSI) – Sartell City Council got great news about resurfacing projects for this summer at Monday’s meeting.

It accepted a bid from Asphalt Surface Technologies Corporation for sealcoating of about $370,000. Total costs will be $455,403, hundreds of thousands of dollars below estimates. The combined sealcoat and overlay projects will be $1,845,502 against the $1,975,000 that was budgeted.

The remaining $129,498 will be used for street and storm sewer repairs, which will be proposed later this summer by the public works and engineering departments.

Sartell is sealcoating over 25,000 square feet of road throughout the city, significantly more than in past years. It helped to generate economies of scale, allowing the work to come in under budget. The work will be completed by September. The streets most affected will be Roberts Road between Pinecone Road South and Heritage Drive and three separate stretches of Connecticut Avenue South.

The council also heard a presentation from Finance Director Rob Voshell on financial management and capital improvement plans for 2024-2028. It implements new policies including debt targets and maintaining a minimum cash balance in city funds. The proposal was accepted on a unanimous vote
