(KNSI) – An Annandale man is dead after the motorcycle he was driving crashed into a car in Waite Park on Sunday.

Just before 3:00 p.m., a Honda Civic driven by an 81-year-old St. Cloud woman was pulling out of a retail center as she made a left onto 2nd Avenue South near 2nd Street South. Located on the southwest corner of the busy intersection, the complex is anchored by Aldi and PetSmart.

Thirty-year-old Brett Iees was on his bike headed south on 2nd Avenue and was unable to stop in time before he collided with the driver’s side door of the Civic. Waite Park Police say speed may have been a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.

He was rushed to St. Cloud Hospital but did not survive. Assisting at the scene were several agencies, including the Minnesota State Patrol, St. Cloud Fire Department, Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, and the Waite Park Fire Department.
