(KNSI) — After standing empty for five years, the second floor of the old Herberger’s building in downtown St. Cloud is getting ready for a new tenant.
St. Cloud-based Dale Gruber Construction is remodeling the 47,500-square-foot second level of the former department store for Midland Credit Management. Developers say the financial company will employ nearly 200 people downtown.
A statement from Dale Gruber Construction Owner and President Rachel Gruber emailed to KNSI says the company is “excited to be a part of this project to revitalize vacant space and bring more people to the downtown area.”
Herberger’s closed in August 2018 after more than 91 years in business. In December, St. Cloud held a community meeting on bringing in businesses and housing to unused buildings downtown.
