(KNSI) – One of St. Cloud’s largest road construction projects will cause more delays when it enters a new phase this week.
According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, it will take workers a full day to implement the changes through the Highway 10/Highway 23 interchange in East St. Cloud. MnDOT says drivers must be patient and add time to their commute starting Thursday.
Highway 23 will go down to one lane in each direction between Wilson Avenue Southeast and 25th Avenue Southeast until November 1st. As crews reconstruct the westbound road and bridge, traffic will be head-to-head on the eastbound side. Highway 10 will remain one lane in each direction between 15th Avenue Southeast and Benton Drive during that time. Traffic will be head-to-head.
Lincoln Avenue Southeast will reopen south of Highway 23 after the intersection approach is finished. Fourth Street SE will close at Highway 10 to begin bridge construction on Friday. Motorists can use Lincoln Avenue SE for access.
Residents should expect changes, sudden stops or delays. MnDOT is also asking drivers to watch the vehicle in front of them.
This is the first year of the two-year, $43.7 million project.
