(KNSI) — Residents of Summit Ridge Place Assisted Living and Memory Care in Sauk Rapids enjoy a quiet life.
At only 19 rooms, the daily routine is pretty well fixed unless family stops in to say hello. Sunday, the staff is hoping to rev things up a bit.
Community Director Ashley Boettcher is trying to add some interaction with a car show on June 11th from 1:00 tp 3:00 p.m. Chrome and horsepower are a love of Boettcher’s, making it an easy choice. It is turning into a celebration of everything on wheels.
“It started as a car show initially and then I had a couple of people on the original [Facebook] post question, ‘Well, what about bikes?’ and I mean absolutely! The residents would just love it, anything they’ve got to offer. I mean, if you have a crazy contraption too, we’re willing to check that out.”
Boettcher says there is no registration and spectators are encouraged but she cautions that the parking lot is fairly small at Summit Ridge Place. Root beer floats will be served and residents are planning to make cookies to hand out to those who take part.
Boettcher hopes to add more events in the future and already ideas are starting to flow.
“I did talk to someone who has a small alpaca farm and we were talking about maybe doing a small petting zoo. So, that’s what I mean. Things are coming out of this.”
