(KNSI) – Stearns County officials say they have recovered the body of a missing St. Cloud man whose kayak was discovered empty in the Mississippi River on Wednesday, May 31st.

Thirty-nine-year-old Donald Richard Worden was found at approximately 6:45 p.m. Friday. It was the third day of search and rescue operations.

The tip came in from a caller at about 6:20 who said he was on his boat near the Veterans Bridge, which connects First Street North with East St. Germain Street. The caller said they could see what they thought was a body floating in the water.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office responded, including a boat and an investigator. Personnel from the St. Cloud Police and Fire Departments were also dispatched. The SCFD and sheriff’s office boats worked in tandem to recover Worden. He was taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy.
