(KNSI) — The University of Minnesota Extension office is holding a free class in Stearns County on keeping chickens and other birds safe this summer.
The session is Thursday, June 1st, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Warner Lake Park near Clearwater. The program will focus on current interests and concerns for backyard poultry. It will discuss poultry breeds and share how flock managers can better match their birds to meet production goals.
It will then focus on how to best minimize the threat of predators and provide an update on Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza. There is also a chance to explore the Biosecurity Entry Education Trailer, which allows people to assess and practice their biosecurity plans for poultry barns.
