(KNSI) – Three St. Cloud-based startups have made the semifinal round in Minnesota’s top competition for new entrepreneurs.

The MN Cup has narrowed down a record number of applicants to 88 companies, including Talknician, Zenlord Pro and 2700 Podcast. They will now be partnered with a one-on-one mentor as they navigate the competition to become a finalist for more than $400,000 in prize money.

Talknician qualified in the education and training category. The company uses augmented reality to create pathways for more efficient knowledge transfer within the industrial workforce.

Zenlord Pro was picked in the high-tech category. The business helps landlords manage their rental properties and collect payments.

McKinley Area Learning Center Senior Said Abdi started 2700 Podcast. The show highlights community members dealing with challenges like addiction and domestic violence.

More than 3,000 Minnesotans applied for MN Cup this year, a new record.
