St. Cloud VA Medical Center Honored With Prestigious Award

(KNSI) — The St. Cloud VA Medical Center is being honored for its commitment to the environment.

Practice Greenhealth says the local VA is one of 25 organizations in the country to get the award. This is the seventh time the St. Cloud system has gotten the Top 25 Environmental Excellence distinction.

Some of the practices judges looked at include using electric vehicles, having solar panels or other renewable energy sources on-site, and accurately predicting food needs for hospital patients and staff, which reduces the amount that is thrown away.

They also secured the Circle of Excellence Award for water conservation and the Greening the OR designation, which looks at sustainability in the operating room.

Practice Greenhealth is the largest organization of its kind and analyzes medical systems nationwide.
