(KNSI) – The St. Cloud State University Baseball Team is NCAA tournament bound.
They are the eight seed in the Division II Central Regional. The Huskies will play at the top seed and host, the University of Central Missouri. First pitch is scheduled for Thursday at 6:00 p.m. Depending on the results, St. Cloud State will play either Ouachita Baptist or fellow Northern Sun squad Augustana on Friday.
The tournament is double elimination in the regional round. Filling out the central bracket is (3) Southern Arkansas, (6) Minnesota State, (2) Missouri Southern State, and (7) Arkansas Tech.
SCSU would not have made it without an automatic qualifier designation. The squad went 4-1 last week to win the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference tournament. The Huskies corralled Southwest Minnesota State 10-3 last Wednesday. They followed it up with another offensive barrage against Augustana, 10-1, on Thursday.
SCSU then had to win a best-of-three series against rival Minnesota State-Mankato. The Huskies finish the regular season at 32-18, with a 20-10 conference mark.
