(KNSI) – The public is invited to say thank you to outgoing Waite Park Police Chief Dave Bentrud as his long career in law enforcement comes to an end.
The open house is Thursday, May 18th, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Ledge Amiphiteater in Waite Park.
His first job was in 1991 with the St. Paul Police Department. He also worked for the Lindstrom and St. Cloud Police Departments before taking over as Waite Park’s top cop in 2008. He talked with KNSI News shortly after announcing his retirement and said it was just time. “I wanted to give myself an opportunity to do something different. Not necessarily law enforcement related. I’m of that age, and it’s a young person’s game, and it was just the right time for me.”
Bentrud says he wouldn’t change a thing. “It’s been a great career. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The last couple of years have had some challenges. But in spite of all that, I’d do it again in a heartbeat.”
Waite Park Sergeant Anthony Reznicek has been picked to replace him.
