(KNSI) – St. Cloud Country Club says it is opening for the season this week, despite some lingering spots that are still underwater.
The maintenance team has been working to pump out the swollen ditch that runs along the fairway of the 10th hole. The back nine hugs the Mississippi River and is at a lower elevation than the front end of the course. Standing water is also a problem on holes 11, 13, and 14. That means some extra markings are being laid down to control foot and cart traffic along that stretch.
In a Facebook post, the course says it hopes to have no restrictions by next week. Officials note that there was significant improvement in the condition of the fairways and greens in the past several days.
St. Cloud Country Club is a private course that also hosts weddings and has a dining room.
Other area courses, like Blackberry Ridge in Sartell, were at least able to partially open by last week. Territory Golf Club welcomed players onto the course on April 21st.
