(KNSI) – District 742 has promoted two coaches to lead squads on the hardwood.

Deon Pierce (right) is the new head boys’ basketball coach at Apollo. Pierce is a security officer at Tech High School and was the Junior Varsity and B team coach there under Coach Ferguson this past season.

Apollo Activities Director Karl Heine says, “We are excited about his passion for our student-athletes and his goals to continue to grow the basketball program. He brings a strong leadership demeanor with a contagious lead-by-example attitude.”

The district also selected Travis Marohl as the new head coach for the St. Cloud Crush girls’ basketball team. He’s spent the last three seasons as an assistant for the squad under Heine. He told KNSI News, “Marhol has built a great reputation with the girls in our program. Travis will bring consistency to our program and a strong knowledge of the conference.”

Marhol is a Dean of Students at South Junior High. He also coaches the football team and is an assistant for the Crush Boys Tennis program.

Both coaches take over their new duties during the 2023-2024 season.
