(KNSI) – The Minnesota State Patrol says one person suffered life-threatening injuries when a Toyota Highlander and Ford Explorer collided early Saturday.

An incident report says six teenagers were inside the Explorer. The driver turned left from Highway 23 South to merge onto eastbound Interstate 94. The SUV hit a Toyota Highlander coming the opposite way on 23, driven by a 49-year-old woman from Paynesville. The accident happened just after 7:00 a.m.

A 16-year-old passenger in the Explorer was rushed to St. Cloud Hospital after being hurt severely. Another passenger went to CentraCare for non-life threatening injuries. Both drivers were treated at the scene by EMTs and released.

Also responding to the crash were Cold Spring Police Department, Mayo Ambulance, St. Joseph Police Department, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, and St. Joseph Fire.
