(KNSI) – Catholic Charities is hosting its spring concert and fundraiser Thursday night at St. Cloud’s Pioneer Place on Fifth.
Running from 7:00 to 9:00, the show is called ‘The Reason.’ It will feature Janelle Kendall’s Perfect Storm band. Catholic Charities Executive Director Steve Pareja explains the theme of the night and how the name was chosen for the event.
“There’s a lot of reasons why we do the work that we do. There’s a lot of reasons why individuals come to Catholic Charities when they need help. There’s reasons why people like Janelle Kendall and Ray Harrington say, ‘You know what, this is somebody we want to support.’ And there’s a lot of reasons why people within our organization say this is the place that I want to work.”
Perfect Storm is a fairly new group, founded in the days after venues reopened from COVID with attendance limits and almost no touring. It was a way for great local musicians to get together and feel the rush of live shows again, says Kendall. There are other benefits too.
“So, we’ve got a lot of talent added to other people that I had worked with before and that’s kind of the synergy of it is we’ll come up with a little different arrangement. ‘No, we’re not going to quite start like that.’ ‘Hey, let’s add this!’ It becomes very much a creative environment because I’m not limited by my band and which songs we choose.”
Tickets are general admission, costing $25. A link to purchase them is here.
Kendall and Pareja spoke with KNSI’s Bob Hughes Monday morning. Proceeds go to help all programming offered by Catholic Charities Emergency Services.
