(KNSI) – A handful of central Minnesota beer makers took home some hardware from Thursday’s 2023 Minnesota Brewers Cup.

Lupulin Brewing Company in Big Lake was one of the area’s big winners taking home four awards. The brewery won first place for Best Art and Design. They took 2nd place in the Wild, Sour & Funky Ales category with Rene V.2 and 2nd among Wood-Aged Beers with its Barrel God CuvĂ©e’ 20/’ 21/’22 Blend. They took 3rd place for Czech Lagers with Dance In The Rain.

Third Street Brewhouse in Cold Spring won two awards. They were second among American Lagers with their Mn Gold and 3rd Place in American India Pale Ales with Hop Lift.

Back Shed Brewing in Waite Park finished in 2nd place in the English, Scottish & Irish Ales with its Excellent Sweater Bud.

More than 450 Minnesota craft beers from over 90 breweries took part in the professionally-judged blind taste test. Beers were organized into 23 categories based on the Beer Judge Certification Program guidelines. The top three beers in each style category were given awards.

This was the first time the brewers cup had been held since 2019.
