(KNSI) – The annual Llama Llama Read-A-Rama returns to the Great River Regional Library next week.

The library and the United Way of Central Minnesota have been teaming up for the event for the past decade. United Way Director of Education Partnerships Stefanie Rothstein told KNSI about this year’s slogan. “The themes have changed. And so this year, our main theme is Proud to be Me, where we really ask all individuals to consider who they are.”

Everyone is invited to the free literacy event. On the outside, the library will have fire trucks and police cruisers on display. The famous llamas will also be there for kids to see. Rothstein says the fun kicks into high gear once you get inside. “We basically take over as much of the main level of the library as possible. Caregivers and their kids can attend read-aloud. We have the Boys and Girls Clubs and the Promise Neighborhood youth as guest readers. We also have the Great River Children’s Museum. They’ll be there doing activities with the kids.”

Reader’s Theater will also take place. There will be snacks available and giveaways with all sorts of things that celebrate literacy.

The event is Tuesday, April 25th, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
