(KNSI) — Minnesota Governor Tim Walz will deliver his State of the State address Wednesday night.

He is expected to touch on the accomplishments of the administration from the past year, likely highlighting the passage of abortion laws, gender affirming care laws to make the state a sanctuary for transgender kids who can’t get care elsewhere, and universal free meals for students regardless of their family income. The Legislature also recently unanimously passed funding to replenish the state’s disaster assistance account in anticipation of spring flooding.

Governor Walz is also expected to outline goals for the remainder of the session which may or may not include legalizing sports betting and recreational marijuana. He will likely call on lawmakers to pass a bonding bill for public projects, which has not been done for the last three years, and the state is sitting on a multi-billion-dollar budget surplus.

Walz will address a joint session of the Minnesota Legislature starting at 7:00 p.m.
