(KNSI) — Mark your calendars for the 26th Annual Juneteenth Community Celebration in St. Cloud.
The event will return to Lake George Municipal Park on Friday, June 16th, from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. The African American Male Forum, business leaders and other St. Cloud area non-profits will host the proceedings.
Juneteenth celebrations usually involve cookouts, parades, church services, musical entertainment, and other public educational events through performances.
Two members of the AAMF, Higher Works Collaborative CEO and Founder Pastor James Alberts and Director of Operations Buddy King, were invited to St. Paul in February to the governor’s signing ceremony, where Minnesota became the 26th state to recognize the holiday.
Juneteenth is a federal holiday celebrating enslaved people’s emancipation in the United States of America. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas in 1865 and is now nationwide.
