(KNSI) — An independent audit of the Sauk Rapids Police Department body camera program showed one minor discrepancy in data retention regarding how long a certain category of video was kept.

Chief Perry Beise said the department is mandated by statute to retain a copy of videos for at least 90 days, but it was not doing so for a category labeled Test and Training Demo. Beise said a change has already been made to fix the problem. The audit showed the department’s program to be in compliance with all other requirements as mandated by state statute.

The council voted unanimously to accept the audit.

A review must be done by an independent party every two years.
